A copy of the draft minutes is included as <br />Attachment 4. <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br /> <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />Authorize Mayor Hosterman to forward the attached letter (Attachment 1) to <br />the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) reflecting the City's <br />comments on the ABAG Draft Regional Housing Needs Allocation <br />Methodology (Draft Methodology). <br /> <br />Since Spring of 2006, Mayor Hosterman has been a member of the ABAG <br />Housing Methodology Committee (HMC) comprised of representatives <br />from cities and counties throughout the ABAG region. The purpose of the <br />HMC is to assist ABAG staff with developing a housing unit methodology <br />for adoption by the ABAG Executive Board, as part of the regional housing <br />needs allocation process. In November of 2006, the ABAG Executive Board <br />authorized release of the Draft Regional Housing Needs Allocation <br />Methodology (Draft Methodology) as recommended by the HMC and this <br />began a 60-day public comment period that will end on January 18, 2007 <br />when the Executive Board is expected to adopt a methodology. This report <br />provides a summary of the Draft Methodology and the HMC's <br />recommendations and recommends the City Council authorize forwarding a <br />response to ABAG detailing the City's concerns on this matter. <br />
