date, each employee shall receive five hundred <br />thirty-seven and six-tenths (537.6) hours of sick <br />leave credit, in addition to sick leave earned but <br />not used during probation. Upon completion of five <br />(5) years of service, each employee shall again <br />earn sick leave at the rate of eleventh and two- <br />tenths (11.2) hours per month. <br />B. No employee shall accumulate more than two thousand <br />sixteen hours (2,016) of sick leave except as <br />follows: Effective October 1, 1990 any fire <br />battalion chief may accumulate an unlimited number <br />of sick leave hours, except, however, hours <br />accumulated in excess of two thousand sixteen <br />(2,016) may be used only to apply toward additional <br />years of service under the current PERS "Credit for <br />Unused Sick Leave", Government Code, Section <br />20862.8. <br />C. An employee on leave of absence with pay in lieu of <br />temporary disability payments pursuant to Section <br />4850 of the Labor Code shall accumulate sick leave <br />during said leave of absence, in accordance with <br />the provisions of that section. <br /> <br />- 12 - <br />
