PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON
ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION N0. PC-90-99
RESOLUTION APPROVING A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT AS FILED UNDER
CASE UP-90-50 AND A VARIANCE AS FILED UNDER CASE V-90-19 FOR
JOHN AND GINA TOMPRINS ~~',' , ~ ". ,~ ~> r .`~
WHEREAS, John and Gina Tompkins have applied for (1) a conditional
use permit to legalize the conversion of a two-car garage
into a secondary unit and (2) variance approval to allow
a covered carport to encroach within the required
sideyard setback, and allow a required parking space
within the required frontyard setback; and
WHEREAS, zoning for the property is R-1-6500 (Single-family
Residential) District; and
WHEREAS, at their duly noticed public hearing of October 24, 1990,
the Planning Commission considered all public testimony,
relevant exhibits and recommendations of the City staff
concerning this application; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission made the following findings:
Conditional Use Permit
A. There is concern with the
maintenance of the single-family lifestyle of the
neighborhood. Depending on who purchases the
property, the primary residence and the secondary
unit could be rented as separate dwelling units.
This situation would begin to impart multi-family
characteristics on the neighborhood. In order to
prevent this situation from happening, a condition
on any project approval is added which requires
that either the primary residence or the secondary
unit be owner-occupied.
B. That the proposed location of the conditional use
