CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 92-163 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ENDORSING ESTABLISHMENT OF AN <br />ABANDONED VEHICLE ABATEMENT SERVICE AUTHORITY <br />FOR ALAMEDA COUNTY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 4114 became law as of January 1, 1991; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the bill allows for the establishment of a county-wide <br />authority to abate abandoned vehicles; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, such vehicles constitute a public nuisance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />under provisions of AB 4114 the majority of the cities <br />representing the majority of the incorporated population <br />and the County, may establish the Alameda County <br />Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Service Authority to be the <br />county-wide abandoned vehicle abatement authority; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Alameda County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Service <br />Authority shall create an Alameda County Abandoned <br />VehiCle Abatement Program consistent with State of~ <br />California guidelines; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the statute requires that the majority of the cities <br />representing the majority of the incorporated population, <br />and the County, approve and endorse the program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council of the City of Pleasanton believes that <br />the program will benefit the City of Pleasanton and the <br />entire County; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OFT HE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br /> The City Council hereby finds a need for an Abandoned <br />Vehicle Abatement Program, endorses the establishment of <br />the Alameda County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Service <br />Authority and the Alameda County Abandoned Vehicle <br />Abatement Program, supports imposition of a $1.00 per <br />vehicle registration surcharge for vehicles registered in <br />the County of Alameda and appoints the City Manager, or <br />her designee, as Pleasanton's representative to the <br />Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Service Authority. <br /> <br /> <br />
