CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 92-155 RESOLUTION REAFFIRMING CERTAIN POLICIES FOR ~ NOVEMBER 3, 1992 MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND REQUESTING CONSOLIDATION WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION WHEREAS, Section 10012 of the Elections Code authorizes the city Council to establish certain charges for handling candidate election materials; and WHEREAS, the City Council, at its meeting of August 4, 1992, considered the options available under the above- mentioned section pertaining to the length of the candidate's statements and setting rules and regulations for additional materials; and WHEREAS, prior to the November 3, 1992 election, the City Council must establish a procedure to resolve tie votes should a tie vote occur; and WHEREAS, the city Clerk has presented the two options available to address this issue; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OFT HE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Authorizes the City Clerk to request consolidation of the Pleasanton municipal election with the statewide general election on November 3, 1992. The offices to be voted on are: Mayor, two City Council positions, and Treasurer. Section 2: Candidates will be charged a pro rata amount for the cost of printing and mailing their Statement of Qualifications. Section 3: The candidate's Statement of Qualifications shall not exceed 200 words. Section 4: Section 5: No materials other than the voter's pamphlet and sample ballot shall be transmitted by the city Clerk to the voters. If a candidate wishes to send additional materials to the voters, it will have to be at the candidate's expense and by persons other than the City. In case of a tie vote at the November 3, 1992 election, Council hereby selects the option of ordering a special run-off election, as follows:
