CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 92-155 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REAFFIRMING CERTAIN POLICIES FOR <br />~ NOVEMBER 3, 1992 MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND <br />REQUESTING CONSOLIDATION WITH THE STATEWIDE <br />GENERAL ELECTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Section 10012 of the Elections Code authorizes the city <br />Council to establish certain charges for handling <br />candidate election materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council, at its meeting of August 4, 1992, <br />considered the options available under the above- <br />mentioned section pertaining to the length of the <br />candidate's statements and setting rules and regulations <br />for additional materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />prior to the November 3, 1992 election, the City Council <br />must establish a procedure to resolve tie votes should a <br />tie vote occur; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the city Clerk has presented the two options available to <br />address this issue; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OFT HE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Authorizes the City Clerk to request consolidation of <br /> the Pleasanton municipal election with the statewide <br /> general election on November 3, 1992. The offices to be <br /> voted on are: Mayor, two City Council positions, and <br /> Treasurer. <br /> <br />Section 2: Candidates will be charged a pro rata amount for the <br /> cost of printing and mailing their Statement of <br /> Qualifications. <br /> <br />Section 3: The candidate's Statement of Qualifications shall not <br /> exceed 200 words. <br /> <br />Section 4: <br /> <br />Section 5: <br /> <br /> No materials other than the voter's pamphlet and <br />sample ballot shall be transmitted by the city Clerk to <br />the voters. If a candidate wishes to send additional <br />materials to the voters, it will have to be at the <br />candidate's expense and by persons other than the City. <br /> <br /> In case of a tie vote at the November 3, 1992 election, <br />Council hereby selects the option of ordering a special <br />run-off election, as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />
