CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 92-121 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING JOINT PARTICIPATION <br />WITH OTHER PUBLIC AGENCIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />RECOGNIZING A r~AD PUBLIC AGENCY TO RECEIVE <br />VOI/IME DISCOUNT PRICING ON CERTAIN PRODUCTS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City has expressed an interest in participating in a <br />state-wide purchasing program jointly sponsored by the <br />County Supervisors Association of California (CSAC) and <br />the League of California Cities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />a lead public agency has been designated to contract for <br />volume discount pricing on certain pricing and services <br />for the benefit of public agencies throughout the State <br />of California; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City proposes to participate in the state-wide <br />purchasing program to generate savings on the goods and <br />services offered under the program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Government Code Section 6502 authorizes the City to <br />participate jointly with other public agencies in such a <br />program; and <br /> <br />participation in the state-wide purchasing program may <br />not only lead to volume discount pricing opportunities <br />but may result in considerable staff savings by <br />eliminating the need to conduct competitive bidding by <br />utilizing bids submitted in response to a request for <br />bids by lead agencies participating in the program. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br /> The City's participation in the state-wide purchasing <br />program jointly sponsored by the County Supervisors <br />Association of California (CSAC) and the League of <br />California Cities is hereby approved and joint <br />participation is hereby authorized pursuant to the <br />provisions of Government Code Section 6502. <br /> <br />Section 2: <br /> <br /> The City Manager and other City staff persons <br />authorized by the City Manager are hereby authorized and <br />directed to execute purchase orders and documents and to <br />perform such other acts and deeds as may be necessary or <br />convenient to effect the purpose of this resolution and <br />the City's participation in the state-wide purchasing <br />program. <br /> <br /> <br />
