MINUTES
ZONING ADMINISTRATOR
Pleasanton, California

779 Mirador Court, Pleasanton, CA
Thursday, April 13, 2006
4:00 p.m.

CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order at 4:07p.m. by Donna Decker, Zoning Administrator.

Present:

Donna Decker, Zoning Administrator; Natalie Amos, Assistant Planner;
Stacey and Stan Knight, applicants; Peter Shutts, architect; Ron Imperiale, 798 E.
Angela Street; and Barbara and Dennis Georgatos, 790 E. Angela Street.

PADR-1472
Application for administrative design review to construct: 1) an approximately 180-square-
foot covered patio; 2) an approximately 292-square-foot first-floor addition on the rear;
and 3) an approximately 1,251-square-foot second-story addition over part of the center
and side portions of the existing residence located at 779 Mirador Court.

Ms. Decker explained that this project was continued and left open for review in the field and
with conversation with all involved parties since the last hearing.

Ms. Decker explained the Administrative Design Review and appeal process and stated that if a
decision by the Zoning Administrator is appealed, the Planning Commission would have to hear
and render a decision of the appeal within 30-days of the date of the Zoning Administrator's
decision. She also stated that the same process would apply to the City Council if an appeal
were made based on the Planning Commissions decision.

Ms. Decker said the she will give a brief re-cap of the conversations that were had with the
neighbors, applicants, and the applicant's architect. Ms. Decker said that this has been a difficult
project because of the neighbors concems and she appreciated meeting with all involved parties
individually.

Ms. Decker said that she does not believe that the City has been insensitive to the neighbors
concerns based on comments and e-mails the City has received. She said that based on the
conversations she and staff have had with the neighbors, there have not been suggestions made
that would mitigate concerns. She stated that while Martha Wensel and Tim Bennett are not
present today, that they as well did not have suggestions.

Ms. Decker said that she and staff met with Mr. Shutts on March 15 and discussed some redesign
concepts and alternatives. She stated that the alternatives presented were limited because of the
culvert and topography in the backyard. She said that the alternatives created problems, such as
drainage issues, loss of backyard open space, and creating more of visual issues for the
neighbors. Ms. Decker said that they discussed moving the addition more over to the west,
