Staff Report and Minutcs from the April 2004 Housing <br />Commission Meeting <br /> <br />Back2round <br /> <br />When she was chairperson of the Housing Commission in 2003, Christine Steincr raiscd thc <br />issue of developing gcncral design and service criteria to be applicd to future senior housing <br />projects. Pleasanton rcsidcnt Jack Dove also raised the samc issuc at the Commission's <br />Novcmber 2003 meeting and providcd the Commission with writtcn guidclincs (an example <br />from Richmond, British Columbia, Canada) that staff had researched previously. <br /> <br />In January 2004, stalTprovidcd the Commission with an amendcd version of the guidelines <br />presented by Mr. Dovc. However, Mr. Dove expressed some rcservation regarding a number of <br />the staff amendmcnts and as a result, staff was dircctcd to meet with Mr. Dove to furthcr discuss <br />his issucs as well as staIrs justi1ication for the amcndments. Staff met with Mr. Dove several <br />weeks later. This mccting rcsulted in a number of changcs including lowering the age rcstriction <br />from 62 ycars to 55 years, requiring dcvclopments to provide transportation to residents, and <br />requiring compliance with all applicable City dcsign codes' as well as grccn building <br />requirements. <br /> <br />Page - 1 - <br />
