CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 92-84 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION OPPOSING SENATE BILL 1538 IN THE <br /> FORM INTRODUCED <br /> <br /> pending in the State Legislature is SB 1538 which, if <br /> adopted, would add many new requirements to the Ralph M.. <br /> Brown Act; and <br /> <br /> the city Council has reviewed and considered this <br /> proposed legislation at its meeting of April 21, 1992; <br /> and <br /> <br /> it feels that these amendments are needless and possibly <br /> very costly to the city of Pleasanton; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the League of California cities is working with the State <br /> Legislature to make appropriate compromises about this <br /> legislation. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City of Pleasanton opposes SB 1538 in the form <br /> that the legislation was introduced. <br /> <br />Section 2: The City of Pleasanton urges the State Legislature and <br /> the Local Government Committee members in particular to <br /> work with the League of California cities to make <br /> appropriate compromises concerning this legislation. <br /> <br />Section 3: The city Clerk is to send a copy of this resolution to <br /> the Assembly and Senate Local Government Committee <br /> members and the City Attorney may send a cover letter of <br /> explanation. <br /> <br />Section 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THE FOREGOING WAS DULY AND <br />REGULARLY ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, AT <br />A MEETING HELD ON APRIL 21, 1992 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Butler <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />Councilmembers - Mohr, Scribner, Tarver, and Mayor Mercer <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br /> <br />Michael H.
