With the expiration
of the current printing contract, staff recently conducted a Request for
Proposals (RFP) process. After formal interviews with three (3) perspective
firms and reference checks, staff determined that Image X of Pleasanton is
the most responsive company to provide Activities Guide printing services.

Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council:

BACKGROUND

The Parks and Community Services Department provides a variety of recreational classes,
preschool activities, environmental education and civic ads programs, and paratransit services.
It also manages and coordinates all youth and adult sports, recreation activities for
developmentally disabled adults, and community-wide special events.

The Department advertises these classes and programs in its quarterly Activities Guide, and
residents utilize the document to register for the wide variety of activities available.

As part of an effort to obtain high quality services at the most reasonable price, the Department
conducted a Request for Proposals (RFP) process for printing the Activities Guide. On August
I I, 2006, 30 RFPs were issued, and three (3) proposals were received by the stated deadline. A

SR 06:241
Page I
