<br />...... <br /> <br /> <br />4D <br /> <br />.) <br /> <br />pLEASANTONo <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />September 19, 2006 <br />City Manager <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Analysis of Commissioner Absences for the Period of <br />January 1 through June 30, 2006 <br /> <br />STAFF <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council review the attached <br />commissioner responses and accept the information provided. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />The Municipal Code establishes attendance requirements for <br />City commissioners at regularly held commission meetings. <br />Under the ordinance, the City Manager is required to request <br />that all commissioners whose absences exceed those as set forth <br />in the Municipal Code provide a written response detailing the <br />reasons for their absences. This report is being submitted in <br />accordance with the required procedures. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />In accordance with the requirements of Ordinance 1507, staff reviewed attendance reports <br />from the various City commissions for the period of January 1 through June 30, 2006. <br />The City Manager notified certain commissioners that their absences during this period <br />equaled or exceeded the one-third limitation established in the ordinance. The <br />commissioners were contacted and their responses are attached for Council (under <br />separate cover) for its review. <br /> <br />Section 2 of the ordinance requires the City Council to determine if a member's reasons <br />for their absences were justified. If the Council determines that the absences were <br />justified, there is no further action required. If the Council determines that the reasons for <br /> <br />SR 06:235 <br />
