Purpose <br />The_ City of- Pleasanton. has a responsibility to ensure th~safe. <br />and-efficient-delivery of municipal services to the public.- <br />Ia additiaa, the_ city has a responsibility to its amploya~tn <br />provida_thez. a safe environment-- in y,~hich- to world. If'thd. city- <br />is_ ta...f~i ff ~ ~ these responsibilities,. the. city must ~ act=ta! <br />maintain a drug free work place. The policy is established <br />toward_ this_ end. <br />I'I`. It- is= the_ policy <br />manufacture, distr. <br />consumption, being <br />substances while on <br />City va~hicles and <br />prohibited. <br />of- the. City off- Pleasanton. that= ttr` <br />ibution, dispensing, possession, use <br />under the influence of controlled <br />duty (including breaks) , while in oz=o=r- <br />equipment and while on standby- is:~ <br />III. This- policy shall apply to all employees of the City-of <br />Pleasanton both paid and volunteer. <br />N: Employers Responsibilities <br />1. Tel-- provide each city employer, including employeear a <br />copy of this. policy. <br />2. To enforce the provisions of this policy-. <br />3 . To inform employees of the dangers of .drug use in~ the; <br />work place. <br />4. Through the city's employee assistance plan,-to encourage <br />employees suffering from drug abuse problems, to s~k <br />voluntary counseling or treatment. <br />v. Employees Responsibilities <br />1. To acquaint themselves with and abide by the provisions <br />of this policy. <br />2. To notify their department head or the director- of <br />personnel of any criminal drug statue. conviction forma <br />violation occurring in the city work place. Said <br />notification shall be made no later than five days after <br />such conviction. <br />VI. Policy Violation <br />Employees who violate the provisions of <br />subject to disciplinary action up <br />tpT++~~ *+ation; or, at- the discretion of the <br />of continued employment be required to <br />successfully complete a drug abuse or <br />approved by the city. <br />this policy will be <br />to and including <br />city, as a condition <br />participate in and <br />assistance program <br />
