The Resident Engi- <br /> <br />neer shall also be independent of the construction contractor. <br /> <br />(16) To pay one hundred percent (100%) of the actual <br /> <br />costs of construction required for satisfactory completion of <br /> <br />PROJECT, <br /> <br />including changes pursuant to contract change orders <br /> <br />concurred with by STATE representative and any "State furnished <br /> <br />material". <br /> <br />(17) At CITY expense, to furnish qualified support <br /> <br />staff, subject to approval of STATE, to assist the Resident Engi- <br /> <br />. <br />neer in, but not limited to, construction surveys, soils tests, <br /> <br />measurement and computation of quantities, testing of con- <br /> <br />struction materials, checking shop drawings, preparation of esti- <br /> <br />mates and reports, preparation of as-built drawings, <br /> <br />and other <br /> <br />inspection anc staff services necessary to assure that the con- <br /> <br />struction is being performed in accordance with the plans and <br /> <br />specifications. <br /> <br />Said qualified staff support shall be independ- <br /> <br />ent of the design engineering company and construction contrac- <br /> <br />tor, except that the project designer may check the shop <br /> <br />drawings, test construction materials, and do construction sur- <br /> <br />veys. <br /> <br />(18) To make progress payments to the contractor using <br /> <br />CITY funds and pay all costs for required staff services as de- <br /> <br />scribed in Articles (15) and (17) above of this Section I. STATE <br /> <br />representative shall review all contract progress pay schedules. <br /> <br />State does not assume responsibility for accuracy of itemization <br /> <br />on progress pay schedules. <br /> <br />-6- <br />
