<br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 91-73 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF SB144 OPPOSING USE <br />OF PUBLIC FUNDS FOR PRIVATELY DEVELOPED TOLL <br />WAY FACILITIES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State of California has enacted legislation (AB680) <br />allowing for the construction of privately funded toll <br />road facilities in the state; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mid-State Toll Way Project has been designated as one <br />of the initial projects in this program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mid-State Toll Way project would have significant <br />impacts upon regional transportation systems; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of the enabling legislation AB680, <br />the project is to be constructed with the use of only <br />private funds; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, State Senators Daniel E. Boatwright and Bill Lockyer have <br />introduced legislation in the California Senate to <br />preclude the expenditure of public funds for the purposes <br />of construction of these privately developed toll way <br />projects; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City council of the City of Pleasanton supports <br />Senate Bill 144 and thereby expresses its opposition to <br />the use of public funding sources for the purposes of <br />construction of privately developed toll road facilities <br />in the State of California. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br />upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THE FOREGOING WAS DULY AND <br />REGULARLY ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, AT <br />A MEETING HELD ON MAY 7, 1991 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br />ABSTAIN: <br /> <br />Councilmembers - Mohr, Scribner, Tarver, and Mayor Mercer <br />None <br />Councilmember Butler <br />None <br /> <br />APPROVED, AS TO FORM: /} <br />'7/~~().Lf tI ;f d,~ <br />Michael H.
