<br />/' <br /> <br /> <br />4L <br /> <br />_ Iii <br /> <br />pLEASANTONo <br /> <br />./ <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />August 15,2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW OF <br />BIDS AND A WARD OF CONTRACT TO THE LOWEST <br />RESPONSIBLE BIDDER FOR EMERGENCY REPAIRS TO THE <br />EXISTING S-6 SEWER LINE, PROJECT NO. 062026 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br />meeting of August 15, 2006: <br /> <br />1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br /> <br />2. Review the bids received and award the contract to the lowest <br />responsible bidder for repairs to the existing S-6 sewer line that runs <br />under the Arroyo Mocho channel. <br /> <br />3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above construction <br />contract. <br /> <br />4. Authorize the Director of Public Works to approve and execute <br />contract change orders for a contingency amount not-to-exceed <br />$50,000 for necessary related project work. <br /> <br />5. Authorize the transfer of funds ($260,000) from the "Sanitary Sewer <br />Pump Station Improvements and Upgrades S-6" (012027) project, for <br />repairs to the damaged sewer line. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />Last winter, storms severely damaged the existing sewer line that runs <br />under the Arroyo Mocho channel. Storm flows eroded the soil supporting <br />the sewer line, creating the potential for the sewer line to washout <br />downstream. Heavy equipment was mobilized and fill material was <br />placed over the pipe to secure it in place. Proposed are permanent repairs <br /> <br />SR 06: 176 <br />Page I of4 <br />
