CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 91-20 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING SUPPT~MENTAL BENEFITS TO <br /> CITY EMPLOYEES CALLED TO ACTIVE MILITARY DUTY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, federal laws provide certain statutory obligations with <br /> regard to employees who are members of the military <br /> reserves or National Guard; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, because of the obvious sacrifice employees called to <br /> active military duty and their families must make, staff <br /> recommends the City supplement those benefits the City is <br /> obligated to provide; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at its meeting of February 19, 1991, the City Council <br /> reviewed the report of the Director of Personnel <br /> (SR 91:51); <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council hereby authorizes the provision of <br /> following supplemental benefits in addition to those <br /> required by federal law: <br /> <br /> 1. Continue the wages (less military pay), and <br /> vacation and sick leave accrual for a six-month <br /> period for city employees called to active military <br /> duty; and <br /> <br /> 2. Continue to provide life insurance coverage to <br /> eligible employees called to active military duty; <br /> and <br /> <br /> 3. Continue to provide health and dental coverage to <br /> dependents of employees called to active duty while <br /> the employee remains on active duty. <br /> <br /> Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
