CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 99-094 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE ELECTION RETURNS <br /> AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE JUNE 8, 1999 <br /> SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council called for a special election pursuant to Election Code Section <br /> 9243 regarding the referendum of Ordinance No. 1769, which approved the <br /> prezoning of the Merritt property and created a development plan for 89 <br /> single-family homes on 46 acres, and such election was held on June 8, 1999; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council contracted with the Alameda County Registrar of Voters to <br /> conduct the special election and voting precincts were established for the special <br /> election in accordance with the Elections Code; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council authorized the City Clerk to canvass the election returns of all <br /> votes cast in the special election which canvass has been duly made and the returns <br /> are as follows: <br /> <br /> a. Total ballots cast were 11,449, representing approximately 31.5% of the <br /> eligible voters in the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> b. Measure P - "Shall Ordinance 1769, which in accordance with the <br /> Pleasanton General Plan prezoned the Merritt property to low density residential <br /> and created a development plan for 89 single-family homes on 46 acres, be <br /> adopted? <br /> <br /> Yes - 4,601 No - 6,695 <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Measure P is hereby declared defeated. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
