<br /> <br />4F <br /> <br />_ . w.; <br /> <br />pLEASANTONo <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />July 18, 2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW OF <br />BIDS AND AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR BERNAL CHANNEL <br />RESTORATION, PROJECT NO. 037049 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br />meeting of July 18, 2006: <br /> <br />1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br /> <br />2. Review the bids received and award the contract for the subject project <br />to HSR General Engineering Contractors Inc. of Santa Clara, <br />California, the lowest responsible bidder, for a low bid amount of <br />$1,524,140. <br /> <br />3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above contract. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />Bids have been received for the subject project and staff is recommending <br />award of the construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder, HSR <br />General Engineering Contractors Inc., in the amount of $1,524,140. The <br />subject project consists of clearing, grubbing, grading and realigning the <br />existing Zone 7 channels crossing the Bernal property to a more natural <br />setting. Included is the replanting of the channel banks and adjacent area <br />with native vegetation and trees and the construction of an adjacent, paved <br />vehicle access road and pedestrian path. <br /> <br />SR 06:119 <br />Page 1 of5 <br />
