<br />r <br /> <br /> <br />46 <br /> <br />'- <br /> <br />pLEASANTONo <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br />July 18, 2006 <br />City Manager <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />APPOINTMENT OF VOTING DElEGATE AND ALTERNATE TO <br />THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES' ANNUAL CONFERENCE <br /> <br />STAFF <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that Council des ignate Councilmember Steve <br />Brozoskyas the voting delegate and Councilmember Jerry Thorne as <br />the voting alternate to the 2006 League of California Cities' Annual <br />Conference. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />This item is placed on the agenda by the City Manager at the request of the League of California <br />Cities. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br />The League of California Cities will hold its annual conference in San Diego on September 6-9, <br />2006. During the conference, the annual bus iness meeting is held at which various policy <br />resolutions are cons ide red. The resolutions gu ide cities and the League in efforts to improve the <br />quality, responsiveness and vitality of local government in California. The League requests that, in <br />advance of the conference, each City designate a voting delegate to cast the City's votes on these <br />policy resolutions and an alternate voting delegate in the event the voting delegate is unavailable <br />to vote. <br /> <br />The current Council representatives to the East Bay Divis ion of the League of California Cities are <br />CouncilmemberSteve Brozosky, member, and CouncilmemberJ erry Thorne, alternate. <br />Consistent with past practice, they would serve as the voting delegate and voting alternate, <br />respectively, at the League's Annual Conference and both are planning to attend. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />None. <br /> <br /> <br />SR 006:187 <br />
