<br />is a Pleasanton resident whose home was robbed when that employee brought <br />home a large sum of cash from the dispensary; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, juveniles in Pleasanton have been arrested with marijuana which was re-sold to <br />them for non-medical purposes when originally purchased by another person from <br />a dispensary; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, news reports and other public information from as recently as 2006 related to <br />negative secondary effects of dispensaries includes: <br /> <br />· Marijuana being grown in warehouse in Livermore resulted in the arrest of <br />more than 30 people and confiscation of abut 1,400 marijuana plants. <br />Defendants claimed marijuana for medical use. (Jan. 2006 Contra Costa <br />Times) <br /> <br />· Federal Drug agents confiscated from dispensaries in Emeryville and <br />Oakland marijuana which was packaged into candy-like names such as <br />Trippy, Stoney Rancher, Toka-Cola, Pot Tart and Budtella, which agents <br />were concerned will appeal to children. (March 2006 San Francisco <br />Chronicle) <br /> <br />· Seven persons were arrested in Berkeley, Oakland, Castro Valley and <br />Brentwood related to four indoor marijuana growing facilities with 5,800 <br />plants. While persons arrested claimed marijuana was for medical <br />purposes, the DEA asserts that arrestees are armed fugitives responsible for <br />other drug-related murders. (Apri12006 U. S. Drug Enforcement <br />Administration) <br /> <br />· The City of Dublin summarized violent and non-violent crimes in Alameda <br />County and the San Francisco Bay Area related to medical marijuana <br />dispensaries in a report to the Dublin City Council on May 2, 2006 <br /> <br />· The City ofEI Cerrito compiled information about crime related to medical <br />marijuana, including "an 'invasion-style' armed robbery in November 2003 <br />at a medical marijuana club in Oakland's so-called Oaksterdam District. <br />F our men took several ounces of marijuana and cash but no one was <br />injured. In Berkeley, dispensaries have been robbed several times since <br />2000.
