We appreciate your interest <br />and that of your neighbors in planning for this area. <br /> <br />In this regard, I would like to briefly discuss the <br />planning process that we have undertaken for the project <br />because I think it might help to clarify and resolve some <br />of the concerns raised in your letter and petition. The <br />"Notice of Preparation" of an enviroI1lllental impact report <br />(ErR) that you recently received was intended to inform <br />interested agencies and citizens that an ErR is about to <br />be prepared, and to encourage your input on issues <br />pertaining the project which you feel should be addressed <br />in the report. The actual Draft EIR is not scheduled to <br />be completed until January. <br /> <br />As you requested at our meeting on October 2, the park <br />alternative at the rear of the Hatsushi property will be <br />included and evaluated as an alternative in the ErR. The <br />location and size of the park will be as per the attached <br />sketch that you prepared at our meeting. It was my <br />unde:rs-;-anding that; th,is 1t.~as t:..."leonly park .alternative <br />that you desired to be evaluated, but if there are <br />others, we would be pleased to look into these as well. <br />In addition to park use, the ErR will evaluate low <br />density residential on the Hatsushi property with varying <br />access routes from neighboring streets, including a loop <br />street from Vineyard Avenue as per the attached sketch <br />that you prepared at our meeting. <br /> <br />Upon completion of the EIR, the Planning commission and <br />City council will take public input and consider the plan <br />attached to the Notice of Preparation as well as the EIR <br />alternative plans prior to taking formal action. In this <br />way all viable alternatives and points of view from the <br />project property owners, neighbors, staff, consultants, <br />public agencies, etc. can be taken into consideration. <br />
