<br />/' <br /> <br /> <br />4C <br /> <br />'- <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />June 20,2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW OF <br />BIDS, AND A WARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR <br />SLURRY SEALING OF VARIOUS CITY STREETS, PROJECT NO. <br />055004 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br />rneeting of June 20,2006: <br /> <br />1. Approve the plans and specifications for the subject project. <br /> <br />2. Review the bids received and award the construction contract to Valley <br />Slurry Seal Company of Sacramento, for a low bid amount of <br />$128,660.83. <br /> <br />3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above construction <br />contract. <br /> <br />4. Authorize the transfer of $5,000 from CIP No. 055003 (Annual <br />Resurfacing of Various City Streets) to Project No. 055004. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />Plans and specifications were prepared for the subject project. Bids have <br />been received and staff is recommending award of the construction <br />contract to the lowest responsible bidder , Valley Slurry Seal Company, in <br />the amount of $128,660.83 for slurry sealing of various City streets. <br />Slurry sealing will prolong the service life of the existing pavement by <br />application of a thin coat of an asphalt/aggregate slurry to the street <br />surface. <br /> <br />SR 06:164 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
