<br />/ <br /> <br />, <br /> <br /> <br />4E <br /> <br />'- <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />pLEASANTONo <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />June 6, 2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF "AS NEEDED" CONTRACTS FOR VARIOUS <br />OUT-SOURCED SERVICES <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Authorize the City Manager to enter into agreements with various vendors <br />for contract services as defmed herein. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />To effectively maintain community infrastructure, the City actively seeks a <br />number of out-sourced services in a broad range of areas, including facility <br />repairs, utilities (water and sewer) maintenance, and park landscape. This <br />consolidated bidding method is a formal bidding procedure with extensive <br />local outreach to encourage local contractor participation. In this case, two <br />advertisements were posted in local newspapers on March 19th and March <br />22nd announcing the Notice of Request for Bids, the results of which are <br />listed in this staff report. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The City of Pleasanton's population is approaching 70,000 within approximately 22 square <br />miles. Within the City's boundaries are: <br /> <br />. 277 miles of water mains with 21,376 service connections; <br />. Over 100 publicly maintained buildings; <br />.
