By renovating the existing fields at Donlon Elementary <br />School, it would provide a possible method for giving additional fields to the <br />community while Council works out a financing plan for the design of the Bernal <br />Park. She agreed with Mr. Brozosky's comments to value engineer this project. <br />She noted that a 30 percent contingency is built into the budget for the basic <br />needs for this project. She shared her concern with the way in which the overall <br />costs are determined for public projects, particularly when the project goes out to <br />bid. She is interested in hearing from the School District regarding what it has <br />planned for Donjon Elementary School and what might fit into this project to <br />jointly modernize this entire area. She was hopeful that the City and the School <br />District could work jointly on this project to supply the School District with a <br />beautiful field for children for school use and athletic fields for Pleasanton <br />residents. She believed the School District could look at the plans for fencing, as <br />the District has always been concerned about making the schools safe for <br />children. She would like to see the City move forward on this project as soon as <br />possible. <br /> <br />Mr. Sullivan did not disagree with any of the comments made by Mr. Brozosky <br />and Ms. McGovern. He would be supportive of looking at a more scaled down <br />version for the basic improvements design plan of the Donlon athletic fields. He <br />believed this project should be considered in conjunction with the Capital <br />Improvement Program so that cost comparisons could be made with respect to <br />whether this project is taking money away from the Bernal property or another <br />project. He noted that the Aviso Adobe project is also short of funding. He would <br />be interested in seeing how fast this project could be completed versus how fast <br />the sports fields on the Bernal property could be built. He would prefer for <br />Council to make these decisions when this information is available. He was <br />interested in receiving more input from the neighbors as to their opinion on the <br />fencing. He preferred no fencing, as it will lock out the neighborhood. <br />
