TABLE VI-I: PLEASANTON'S ANNUAL WASTEWATER
DISCHARGE, 2005 AND 2025

2005 TOTAL

Gallons/day
6,200,000

100 cu ft/year b
3,025.401

Residential
Commercial C
Institutional d
Industrial

2025 ADDED

2025 TOTAL

Notes:

o Note that sewage discharge Is substantially less than water demand
(Table VI-2. page _)because most water used for landscaping and
parks is not discharged into the wastewater system.

b cu II = cubic feet, 100 cu II = 748 gallons

c Commercial includes office and retail uses.

d Institutional includes government offices, medical offices and
hospitals. and schools.

Sources; City of Pleasanton Public Works Dept" Operotlons Service
Center; and Planning & Community Development Dept" 2006.

or golf courses; the City and County of San Francisco's Water Department serves these residences
from pumped groundwater-basin waters and are accounted for in Zone 7's groundwater use.

The City receives the majority of its water from the Zone 7 Water Agency (the Valley's water
wholesaler) through six permanent turnouts from the Zone 7 system and from its own wells. The
City owns and operates three active groundwater wells and a water distribution, pumping and
storage system divided into a number of water pressure zones.

The adequacy of Pleasanton's water system depends on the water supply available and the
pumping, storage and distribution systems capacity to deliver water on demand. Water supplies
must be capable of meeting maximum-day demands. Storage must be capable of meeting
peak-hour demand, fire-flow volumes, and an emergency reserve. The distribution system must
be able to provide required flows at adequate pressures throughout the system.

Figure VI-3 shows the groundwater basin, water-supply wells, and surface water treatment
locations and Figure VI-4 shows surface water locations and flood-control facilities.

VI-7
