<br />~ <br /> <br />"' <br /> <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />\.. <br /> <br />.I <br /> <br />City Council <br />General Plan Workshop <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />May 23, 2006 <br />Planning Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />REVIEW OF DRAFT ECONOMIC AND FISCAL ELEMENT OF <br />THE GENERAL PLAN <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Review and consider the Draft Economic and Fiscal Element of the General <br />Plan; provide feedback on amendments to be made prior to incorporation <br />into the Draft General Plan document <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br /> <br />The Draft Economic and Fiscal Element of the General Plan has been <br />reviewed and considered by the Economic Vitality Committee, and has been <br />recommended by the Planning Commission to the City Council for <br />consideration. The background information and goals, policies, and <br />programs have been edited, updated, reorganized, and amended to reflect <br />new information and issues not considered in the 1996 General Plan. The <br />City Council is being asked to review this Draft and provide feedback to <br />staff prior to the incorporation of the Draft Element into the Draft General <br />Plan document. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The 1996 General Plan Economic and Fiscal Element includes background information as well as <br />goals, policies, and programs related to Pleasanton's economy, and City revenues, budget, and <br />cost of services. This element of the General Plan addresses economic and fiscal issues that are <br />important to the community; however, this element is not a required element under State Planning, <br />Zoning and Development Law. <br /> <br />SR 06:127 <br />Page 1 of 5 <br />
