CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 93-149 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING THE DESIGN OF THE BERNAL <br /> AVENUE BRIDGE (CASE Z-93-50) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in April of 1990, the City Council approved the final PUD <br /> development plan for Laguna Oaks; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a condition of the PUD required The DeSilva Group to <br /> construct an additional two-lane bridge across the Arroyo <br /> de la Laguna and road widening for Bernal Avenue; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at its meeting of December 14, 1993, the City Council <br /> reviewed the staff report (SR 93:458) which included the <br /> design of the proposed Bernal Avenue bridge; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Approves the design for the interim two-lane concrete <br /> bridge, which includes: <br /> <br /> --a steel superstructure placed over the concrete bridge and Arroyo in a position <br /> aligned with the existing bridge; this location would not place the superstructure <br /> centrally over the new bridge or Arroyo; <br /> <br /> --a steel superstructure placed over the bridge and creek bed which replicates <br /> the existing steel truss bridge in height and length; which appears similar to the <br /> vertical and diagonal support posts on the existing bridge; includes horizontal <br /> cross-beams between the two spans; and includes some diagonal cross bracing <br /> between the horizontal spans; <br /> <br /> --safety railings for the new bridge which consist of a 2'-high concrete barrier, <br /> with metal tubular railings installed to a height of 3'6" alongside the vehicle <br /> travel lane and 4'6" in height alongside the sidewalk; <br /> <br /> --pedestrian and bicyclist safety railings on the west side of the bridge of picket- <br /> type design, which extend from the end of the superstructure westward to the <br /> end of the bridge. <br /> <br /> <br />
