The project consists of the removal and
replacement of approximately 8,224 square feet of sidewalk and driveway, 1,989 linear feet of
curb and gutter, 67 linear feet of PVC pipe for curb through drains, and 24 access ramps on
Blackbird Way, KolIn Street, Jensen Street, School Street, Graham Street, Cotterell Court,
Vineyard Avenue between Bernal Avenue and Grapevine Drive, West Las Positas Boulevard
between Hopyard Road and Hacienda Drive and Valley Avenue between Hopyard Road and
Santa Rita Road. The purpose of this project is to improve drainage and pedestrian safety.

BIDS

Sealed bids for this project were opened on April 13, 2006. There were a total of four bids
received, which ranged from $177,976 to $249,560, as compared to the Engineer's Estimate
of $170,000. The low bid of $177,976 was received from Rosas Brothers Construction. Staff
recommends that the construction contingency fund amount be 20% of the contract price.
Previous work of a similar nature have required additional removals of concrete and curb and
gutter beyond the project limits established at the time of design.

All bid documents submitted by Rosas Brothers Construction were found to be in order, with
past work performed by Rosas Brothers Construction verified to be satisfactory.

BUDGET

Funding
Curb & Gutter Replacements, Project 055009
Annual Street Resurfacing, Project 045003

TOTAL

$150,000
$64,000
$214,000

Expenditures
Construction Contract
Construction Contingency (20 %)

TOTAL

$177,976
$35,595
$213,571

SR 06:130
Page 2 00
