<br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />- . <br /> <br />pLfASANTONo <br /> <br />City Council-Planning Commission <br />General Plan Joint Workshop <br /> <br />April 25, 2006 <br />Planning Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />GENERAL PLAN LAND USE ELEMENT WORKSHOP #7: Discussion <br />of land use issues, including: Land Use Options for future development; <br />land designated Public and Institutional on the General Plan, and senior <br />continuing care units. <br /> <br />PURPOSE: <br /> <br />To provide land use information to the City Council and Planning <br />Commission, and, following the workshop discussion, for the City Council to <br />provide feedback regarding Preliminary Land Use Options and other land use <br />policies. <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Receive staff presentation; following the workshop, provide feedback <br />regarding Preliminary Land Use Options and other land use policies. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: This staff report provides information requested at the previous Joint <br />Workshop regarding lands designated Public and Institutional on the Land Use <br />map, and the amount of land designated as Agriculture and Grazing. The <br />report also provides additional information on properties in the Foothill Road <br />Area in response to questions raised at the last workshop. Staff also presents <br />several options for future land use, from which the City Council is being asked <br />to select two or more for preliminary impact analysis. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />On September 2i\ 2005, the City Council and Planning Commission held the first in a series of <br />Joint Workshops discussing the General Plan Update Land Use Element. At that time, staff set <br />out a work plan for considering potential land uses on 52 potential "land use change areas", and <br />described several city-wide land use issues for later discussion. Workshops #2 and #3 focused <br />on new land use concepts on two large areas, Staples Ranch and Hacienda Business Park. <br />Workshop #4 was a discussion of several city-wide land use issues.
