· (4) Thermal Imaging Cameras ($15,600) The NOPTIC thermal imaging cameras are mounted to the driver's side spotlight and sends images directly to the unit's MDC screen. The camera runs whenever the vehicle engine is on. The camera has a 360-degree field of vision with a 500-yard range. This equipment provides patrol officers with a useful tool when responding to calls involving fleeing suspects. Additionally, patrol officers can utilize this equipment during routine patrol and to conduct surveillance (apartment lots, parks, construction sites, etc.) and other police activities with greater success. . (2) Motorcycle Radio Boxes ($3,000) The department has made it a priority to equip two police motorcycle training bikes with police radios to make the vehicles patrol ready and deployable for emergencies and to be used on patrol whenever one of the regular units is taken out of service for repairs. The Motorola radio boxes cost $1,500 each. . Stinger Spike System ($10,000) These funds will be used to purchase a tire deflation system for each patrol unit in the Operations fleet. High-speed police pursuits, regardless of reason, place our officers, citizens, and fleeing suspects in danger. By reducing the speed of a pursuit we can reduce the risk of injury to these stakeholders. Outfitting all patrol units with a tire deflation system increases the odds of a successful deployment during pursuits. The Stinger Spike System uses high strength hollow steel spikes mounted on a reusable modular base. The base is constructed from a lightweight (high- strength) resilient synthetic polymer, which stands up to hard use and multiple deployments. Each system includes a carrying case, replacement spikes, safety guards and insertion tool. Federal Signal (manufacturer) provides replacement spikes at no charge when the system is deployed in the line of duty. . HP 1055 CM Plus Plotter Printer ($10,000) The Department's crime analyst provides staff current data and large mapping imagery related to crime trends within the City of Pleasanton and will use this printer. The maps will be displayed in the Police Department briefing room for easy viewing by all personnel, while allowing patrol officers a quick reference for areas experiencing increase criminal activity. . SWAT Tactical Headsets ($8,500) Tactical headsets provide for integrated tactical communications and digital hearing protection for SW AT members.
