<br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 06-015 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ALTAMONT SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT <br />EDUCATION ADVISORY BOARD'S EXPENDITURE PLAN <br />FOR FISCAL YEAR 2006-07 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, as part of the Altamont Landfill Settlement Agreement, the Altamont Education <br />Advisory Board was created; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Advisory Board is charged with the responsibility to annually propose an <br />allocation of funds from the Education Account, to fund education programs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the funds allocated in the Education Account are generated from the $0.25 per ton <br />surcharge which amount to approximately $325,000 annually; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the funds allocated to the Education Account are dedicated to support diversion <br />education programs, job training in the field of waste diversion and recycling, and <br />mitigation programs to reduce the impacts of the landfill operations on the affected <br />neighboring community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the 2006-07 Expenditure Plan proposes to achieve the stated goals through <br />creation of mini-grant programs, project grants, and Board initiated grants; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Altamont Settlement Agreement, concurrence by the <br />Northern California Recycling Association, the cities of Pleasanton and <br />Livermore, and the County of Alameda is necessary to fund any proposed <br />allocation from the Education Account; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOL YES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section I. Council authorizes the Altamont Settlement Agreement Education Advisory Board <br />Expenditure Plan for fiscal year 2006-07. <br /> <br />Section 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br />
