<br />/ <br /> <br /> <br />41 <br /> <br />\. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />pLEASANTONo <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />April 18, 2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW OF <br />BIDS AND AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE <br />S-8 SEWER DIVERSION STRUCTURE, PROJECT NO. 032017 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br />meeting of April 18, 2006: <br /> <br />1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br /> <br />2. Review the bids received and award the construction contract for the <br />subject project to Mitchell Engineering of San Francisco for a low <br />bid of $396,312.00. <br /> <br />3. Authorize the Director of Public Works to approve and execute <br />contract change orders for a contingency amount not-to-exceed <br />$80,000 (20% of the contract price) for necessary related project <br />work. <br /> <br />4. Authorize the transfer of $154,000 from the sewer replacement fund <br />to the project fund to complete the work. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />Bids have been received for the subject project and staff is recommending <br />award of construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Mitchell <br />Engineering in the amount of $396,312. The subject project consists of <br />the replacement of the sanitary sewer flow diversion structure, sluice <br />gates and appurtenant access hatches and hardware at the S-8 sewer pump <br />station. <br /> <br />SR:06:080 <br />Page I of 4 <br />
