CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION NO. 93-35

RESOLUTION CONCERNING CITY COUNCILPOSITION ON
THE HIGHWAY 84 TOLL ROAD

WHEREAS, on September 1, 1992, the City Council adopted Resolution
No. 92-177 setting forth the Council's position regarding
the Highway 84 Toll Road; and

WHEREAS, at its meeting of March 16, 1993, the City Council
reviewed the report of the Director of Public Works and
Utilities (IR 93:22) regarding the MTC Eastern Corridor
Planning Reconnaissance Report and the Highway 84 Toll
Road;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES
AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1: The policies adopted on September 1, 1992 concerning
the Toll Road are modified by deleting that portion which
reads "Support the construction of the remaining portion
of Highway 84 between the Isabel Extension and 1-680 as
a toll road as no assurance of funding appears available
in the next 10 years." and substituting the following:

"A. The City Council continues to support Alameda
County's efforts to secure funding to complete a first
phase of the Route 84 facility between 1-580 and 1-680
(public/private partnerships are encouraged).

B. Should a toll road be constructed, the portion of the
facility funded with Measure B funds (I-580 to Vallecitos
Road on Isabel Alignment) should be toll-free for local
residents.

C. The City Council is philosophically opposed to the
toll road and finds it to be the least desirable
alternative to traffic mitigation measures."

Section 2: In all other respects the policies adopted on
September 1, 1992, in Resolution No. 92-177, concerning
the Highway 84 Toll Road are reaffirmed.

Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately
upon its passage and adoption.
