CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 93-32 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION CANVASSINGTHEELECTIONRETURNSAND <br /> DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE MARCH 2, 1993 <br /> SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council called for a special election to fill <br /> the vacated Council seat of Ben Tarver pursuant to <br /> Section 36512 of the California Government Code, and such <br /> election was held on March 2, 1993; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council contracted with the Alameda County <br /> Registrar of Voters to conduct the special election and <br /> voting precincts were establihsed for the special <br /> election in accordance with the Elections Code; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council authorized the City Clerk to canvass the <br /> election returns of all votes cast in the special <br /> election which canvass has been duly made and the returns <br /> are as follows: <br /> <br /> a. Total ballots cast were 8,183, representing <br /> approximately 24.9% of the eligible voters in the <br /> City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> b. Names and numbers of votes for persons running for <br /> the office of City Councilmember: <br /> <br /> Becky Dennis 4,193 <br /> James M. Fields 3,693 <br /> Dorene Paradiso 163 <br /> Robert C. Cordtz 51 <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Becky Dennis is hereby declared elected to the <br /> office of City Councilmember of the City of Pleasanton, <br /> to fill the unexpired term of Ben Tarver, which term <br /> shall expire November 8, 1994, or until her successor is <br /> declared elected. <br /> <br /> <br />
