: t ,SE DO NOT SIGN "F.7,J-iiBIT ONLY" COPY AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION OF THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES~ RETIREMENT SYSTEM CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON The Board of Administration, Publi~ Employees' Retirement System, hereinaf~er referred to as Board, and the governing body of above public agency, hereinafter referred to as Publi~ Agen6y, having entered into a ~ontra~ effective September 1, 1953, and witnessed May 18, 1953, and as amended effective April 1, 19(52, October 21, 1972, September 28, 1973, January 5, 1980, lanuary 3, 1981, April 11, 1981, September 20, 1986, February 18, 1987, June 13, 1987, September 5, 1987 and February 2(5, 1993, which provides for participation of Publi~ Agency in said System, Board and Publi~ Agency hereby agree as follows: A. Paragraphs 1 through 12 are hereby s~ri~ken from said contra~t as ex~uted effective February 26, 1993, and hereby replaced by the following paragraphs numbered 1 through 12 inclusive: 1. All words and ~erms used herein which are defined in the Publi~ Employees' Retirement Law shall have the meaning as defined therein unless otherwise spe~i~ally provided. ~Normal retirement age~' shall mean age 60 for local miscellaneous members and age 50 for lo~al safety members. 2. Public Agency shall participate in the Public Employees' Retirement System from and after September 1, 1953 making i~s employees as hereinaf~er provided, members of said System subje~ to all provisions of the Public Employees' Retirement Law except such as apply only on election of a ~ntra~ting agency and are no~ provided for herein and to all amendmenu to said Law hereafter enacted ex~ep~ those, which by express provisions thereof, apply only on the ele6tion of a ~onrxa~ting agen6y. 3. Employees of Publi~ Agency in the following ~lasses shall be~me members of said Retiremen~ System except such in each such ~lass as are excluded by law or this agreement: a. Lo~al Fir~ Fighters (herein referred to as lo~al safety members); b. Lo~al Poli~6 Officers ~her6in referred to as lo~al saf6t-y m6mb6rs). Employees other than lo~al safety members (herein referred to as lo~al mis~ellaneous members). 4. In addition to the ~lasses of employees excluded from membership by said Retirement Law, the following classes of employees shall not become members of said Retirement System: NO ADDITIONAL EXCLUSIONS
