11.4 Vacation Accumulation <br /> <br /> Any eligible employee may be allowed to have an accumulation of no <br /> more than two years vacation accrual on his/her anniversary date. <br /> If the maximum vacation accrual is reached, the employee shall <br /> temporarily cease the further accrual of vacation until his/her <br /> vacation balance is reduced below the maximum accumulation. An <br /> employee reaching his/her maximum accrual shall be notified in <br /> writing by the personnel department ninety (90) days in advance. <br /> <br /> If the requirements of the service are such that an employee cannot <br /> take his/her vacation for purposes of complying withthe above, the <br /> employee's department head may make special arrangements including <br /> the continuation of vacation accrual to accommodate the employee if <br /> necessary. <br /> <br /> Employees who on May 1, 1992 have accrued vacation in excess of <br /> twice their annual vacation accrual rate shall reduce their <br /> vacation accrual balance to the maximum specified in the paragraph <br /> above by their 1993 anniversary date. Scheduling of said vacation <br /> shall be in accordance with the provisions of Section 11.5. <br /> <br />11.5 Vacation schedule <br /> <br /> The times during a calendar year at which an employee may take <br /> his/her vacation shall be determined by the Department Head or <br /> his/her designee with due regard for the wishes of the employee and <br /> particular regard for the needs of the service. Vacations may not <br /> be taken, however, in connection with an employee leaving City <br /> emplolment. <br /> <br /> If the requirements of the service are such that an employee can <br /> not take part or all of his/her annual vacation in a particular <br /> calendar year, such vacation shall be taken during the following <br /> calendar year. <br /> <br />11.6 Vacation PaY at Termination <br /> <br /> Any employee with one (1) or more years of service with the City <br /> shall be paid for all accrued vacation leave earned prior to the <br /> effective date of termination. Such compensation for earned <br /> vacation shall be paid to the employee in one lump sum in a final <br /> check. <br /> <br />Section 12 Sick Leave <br /> <br />12.1 Sick Leave Accrual <br /> <br /> During his/her one year probationary period each new full time <br /> employee shall earn sick leave at a rate of eight (S.0) hours for <br /> each month of service. Upon successfully completing his/her one <br /> year probationary period each new employee shall receive three- <br /> hundred eighty-four (384.0) hours sick leave credit in addition to <br /> <br /> - 14 - <br /> <br /> <br />
