City P1 ton <br /> STA r 6B <br /> May 9, 1995 <br /> Parks and Community Services <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Review and Approval of Concept C as the Amended Master <br /> Plan for Pleasanton Tennis and Community Park, Phase III <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> The Park and Recreation Commission, at their meeting of <br /> April 13, 1995, adopted a motion recommending approval to <br /> Council of Concept C as the Amended Master Plan for the <br /> Pleasanton Tennis and Community Park, and directing staff <br /> to proceed with the project. <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> Staff concurs with the Park and Recreation Commission <br /> recommendation. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: The Master Plan for Pleasanton Tennis and Community Park <br /> completed in 1985 has been reviewed by the Park and <br /> Recreation Commission in preparation for undertaking the <br /> project that will result in the completion of the park. <br /> Three public hearings have been held, as well as special <br /> meetings of the Task Force. During the public hearings, <br /> introducing in-line skating in the park was investigated <br /> thoroughly, but was not supported. The Amended Master <br /> Plan, Concept C, as approved by the Commission and the <br /> Task Force, follows the basic design concepts of the <br /> original Master Plan with the following major changes: <br /> removal of the golf element, two tennis courts, the par <br /> course, and the temporary parking; removal of the rest <br /> room but adjusting the elements so the rest room of the <br /> administration building is adjacent to high-use areas; <br /> addition of a bridge across the Pleasanton Canal and a <br /> second basketball court. A clear direction was given <br /> that uses were to be lighted and available in the <br /> evening. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Master Plan for Pleasanton Tennis and Community Park was <br />competed in 1985, followed in 1986 by completion of Phase I.
