Section 2. Union Security <br />2.1 Dues Deduction <br />MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br />The International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 1974, AFL- CIO -CLC, and representatives <br />of the Livermore- Pleasanton Fire Department Joint Powers Authority, hereinafter the "Authority" <br />have met and conferred in good faith regarding wages, hours and other terms and conditions of <br />employment of employees in the representation unit specified in Section 1, and have exchanged <br />freely information, opinions and proposals and have reached agreement on all matters relating to <br />the employment conditions and employer- employee relations of such employees. <br />This Memorandum of Understanding is entered into pursuant to the Meyers- Milias -Brown Act <br />(Government Code Section 3500, et. seq.) and has been jointly prepared by the parties. This <br />Memorandum of Understanding applies to those classes of employment set forth in Appendix "A" <br />attached hereto and made a part hereof. <br />This Memorandum of Understanding shall be presented to the Livermore- Pleasanton Fire <br />Department Joint Powers Authority governing board as the joint recommendations of the <br />undersigned for salary and employee benefit adjustments for the period commencing August 1, <br />1996 and ending July 31, 2001. <br />Section 1. Recognition <br />Local 1974, International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL- CIO -CLC, hereinafter referred to <br />as the "Union," is the formally recognized employee organization for the Fire Employees Unit <br />comprised of the classifications of Firefighter, Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, Fire Inspector and <br />Hazardous Materials Coordinator certified pursuant to the Employer - Employee Relations <br />Procedures & Resolution No. ( ) adopted by the Livermore- Pleasanton Fire <br />Department Joint Powers Authority on 00 /00/9 - -. <br />Upon receipt of a written assignment and authorization signed by the employee on the form shown <br />below, the Department agrees to deduct from an employee's paycheck an amount which will total <br />the dues uniformly required for membership in the Union. The amount so deducted shall be <br />remitted by the Livennore- Pleasanton Fire Department to the officer designated in writing by the <br />President of the Union as the person authorized to receive such funds. <br />The President of the Union shall notify the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Fire Chief in <br />writing as to the amount of such dues uniformly required of all members of the Union. <br />
