CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 96-107 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION DENYING THE APPEAL OF <br /> SAFEWAY, INC. AND ESSENAR INVESTMENTS, <br /> INC. AND UPHOLDING THE DECISION OF THE <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION DENYING A VARIANCE <br /> TO ALLOW TWO FREESTANDING SIGNS AT <br /> AMADOR PLAZA, AS FILED UNDER AP-96-06 <br /> (V-95-18/Z-95-217) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Safeway, Inc. and Essenar Investments, Inc. applied to the City for a <br /> variance from the Pleasanton Municipal Code and for design review <br /> approval to allow a second freestanding sign, to face Valley Avenue, <br /> located at 1677 to 1797 Santa Rita Road (the Amador Plaza Shopping <br /> Center); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, zoning for the property is C-N (Neighborhood Commercial) District; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City's Zoning Administrator approved the application but that decision <br /> was appealed by the Planning Commission; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at its meeting of August 23, 1996, the Planning Commission denied the <br /> application; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the applicant filed a timely appeal; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a public hearing was held before the City Council on September 17, 1996, <br /> at which time all pertinent testimony and documents were reviewed; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, after a review of the material presented, the City Council determined that <br /> findings could not be made to justify granting a variance; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> <br />
