CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 96-97 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SETTLEMENT OF <br /> WORKER'S COMPENSATION CLAIMS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is now pending before the Worker's Compensation Appeals Board a <br /> case involving Vernon Penn, a City employee; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City's worker's compensation claims administrator has requested <br /> authority from the City Council to settle this claim in an amount more fully <br /> discussed in the memorandum dated August 15, 1996 from the Director of <br /> Personnel to the City Attorney; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, such authority is reasonable and justified under the circumstances. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1: The City Attorney is authorized to settle the above-mentioned case in the <br /> amount not to exceed that requested by the Director of Personnel. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and <br /> adoption. <br /> <br /> I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THE FOREGOING WAS DULY AND <br />REGULARLY ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PLEASANTON, AT A MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 3, 1996 BY THE <br />FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Dennis, Michelotti, Mohr, and Mayor Tarver <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Pico <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> ATTEST: <br /> <br />Michael H.
