CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 96-82 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A SPECIAL <br /> ELECTION IN THE EVENT A VACANCY IS <br /> CREATED ON THE CITY COUNCIL AFTER THE <br /> 11/5/96 ELECTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at its meeting of July 9, 1996, Council reviewed and discussed the staff <br /> report (SR96:222) from the City Manager regarding the options available in <br /> the event a vacancy is created on the City Council if an incumbent <br /> Councilmember is elected as mayor; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: In the event a vacancy is created on the City Council due to an incumbent <br /> Councilmember being elected as Mayor, a special election shall be called <br /> within 30 days of the date of the vacancy and held within 90 days <br /> thereafter. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and <br /> adoption. <br /> <br /> I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THE FOREGOING WAS DULY AND <br />REGULARLY ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PLEASANTON, AT A MEETING HELD ON JULY 9, 1996 BY THE FOLLOWING <br />VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Dennis, Michelotti, Pico, and Mayor Tarver <br />NOES: Councilmember Mohr <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> ATTEST: <br /> PeCe~~ . dro Ci~ <br /> <br />Michael H.
