$250,000 to participate in the p0rchase of additional ridgelands with the East Bay
Regional Parks District (EBRPD).

As part of last year's CIP review, EBRPD informed the Council they were
considering the purchase of additional ridgelands and requested participation with
the City. Recently this matter was reviewed by the Park and Recreation
Commission which recommended the funding of $250,000 for this project. The
Council has also conceptually approved this joint venture and this revenue is being
recommended to fund the project.

$200,000 to support community. goups.

A few years ago, the Council began a program of supporting community groups
through a "grant" program administered by staff and the Human Services
Commission. Recently, individual Council members have expressed an interest in
expanding this program to better meet the needs of the many nonprofit groups
which provide meaningful services to the community. Should the Council approve
this allocation, staff recommends that the matter be forwarded to the Human
Services Commission for their recommendation regarding a process and time line
for allocating this funding.

$80.000 to design and develop a multi-use handicapped accessible pathway in the
Arroyo del Valle between Main Street and Harvest Circle.

This pathway is a critical link in the Centennial Trail and an important part of the
City trail/pathway system. Due to the effects from recent winter storms and
continual usage, the condition of this pathway has deteriorated. As a result, it is
appropriate that it be properly designed and developed. This matter was recently
reviewed by the Park and Recreation Commission which indicated it was a high
priority project. If Council concurs with this allocation, staff recommends the
project be forwarded to the Park and Recreation Commission for their review and
recommendation regarding design and development.

$750.000 to assure completion of existing Ci_ty facili_ty development projects funded
in the CIP.

Currently, the CIP includes funding for a number of City facilities including
construction of Fire Station #4 ($1,700,000), expansion to the City Police Station
($1,400,000), expansion of the City Aquatic Center ($2,032,328), the Tennis and
Community Park which is currently under construction ($2,426,991) and the
expansion of the existing City Hall ($440,000). At this time, these projects are at

SR 96:197
6
