AN INITIATIVE TO LIMIT THE TERMS OF CITY COUNCIL AND MAYOR <br /> <br />The People of the City of Pleasanton do hereby ordain as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1. Section 2.04.015 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code is being amended to read as <br /> follows; <br /> <br /> "Section 2.04.015 Terms of Office <br /> <br /> (Subsections A and B, no change.) <br /> <br /> C. A Councilmember (other than Mayor) shall serve no more than two <br /> consecutive terms and a person who has been appointed or elected to <br /> council for more than two years shall serve no more than one additional <br /> term. <br /> <br /> D. A Mayor shall serve no more than four consecutive terms and a person <br /> who has been appointed or elected to Mayor for more than one year shah <br /> serve no more than three additional terms." <br /> <br />Section 2. Amendment and Repeal. <br /> <br /> This initiative shah not be amended nor repealed except by a vote of the people of <br />Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Section 3. Severability. <br /> <br /> If any portion of this initiative ordinance is hereafter determined to be invalid by a court of <br />competent jurisdiction, all remaining portions of this initiative ordinance shall remain in full force <br />and effect. Each section, subsection, sentence, phrase, part, or portion of this initiative ordinance <br />would have been adopted and passed irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, <br />subsections, sentences, phrases, parts or portions be declared invalid or unconstitutional. <br />Section 4. Effective Date. <br /> <br /> This Initiative shah take effect if a majority of the votes cast on the Initiative are in favor <br />of its adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
