MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br /> <br />The International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 1974, AFL-CIO-CLC, and representatives of the <br />Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Joint Powers Authority, hereinafter the "Authority" have met <br />and conferred in good faith regarding wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment of <br />employees in the representation unit specified in Section 1, and have exchanged freely information, <br />opinions and proposals and have reached agreement on all matters relating to the employment conditions <br />and employer-employee relations of such employees. <br /> <br />This Memorandum of Understanding is entered into pursuant to the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act <br />(Government Code Section 3500, et. seq.) and has been jointly prepared by the parties. This <br />Memorandum of Understanding applies to those classes of employment set forth in Appendix "A' <br />attached hereto and made a part hereof. <br /> <br />This Memorandum of Understanding shall be presented to the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department <br />Joint Powers Authority goveming board as the joint recommendations of the undersigned for salary and <br />employee benefit adjustments for the period commencing August 1, 1996 and ending July 31,2001. <br /> <br />Section 1. Recognition <br /> <br />Local 1974, Intemational Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO-CLC, hereinafier referred to as the <br />"Union," is the formally recognized employee organization for the Fire Employees Unit comprised of <br />the classifications of Firefighter, Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, Fire Inspector, Hazardous Materials <br />Coordinator and Hazardous Materials Inspector certified pursuant to the Employer-Employee Relations <br />Procedures & Resolution No. 97-1 adopted by the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Joint Powers <br />Authority on 11/21/97. <br /> <br />Section 2. Union Security <br /> <br />2.1 Dues Deduction <br /> <br />Upon receipt of a written assignment and authorization signed by the employee on the form shown <br />below, the Department agrees to deduct from an employee's paycheck an amount which will total the <br />dues uniformly required for membership in the Union. The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department shall <br />remit the amount so deducted to the officer designated in writing by the President of the Union as the <br />person authorized to receive such funds. <br /> <br />The President of the Union shall notify the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Fire Chief in writing <br />as to the amount of such dues uniformly required of all members of the Union. <br /> <br /> <br />
