for which the employee may be compensated on any one day shall be one and one-half (1-1/2) times <br />his/her twenty four (24) hour rate of pay. <br /> <br />7.2 Procedures For Filling Absences: <br /> <br />The procedure for determining and filling overtime shall be that contained in Fire Department General <br />Order (). <br /> <br />7.3 Overtime Compensation <br /> <br />Overtime shall be paid in conformance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) at any time the FLSA <br />applies to municipal governments. <br /> <br />The Fire Chief may temporarily assign employees in the classification of Firefighter, Fire Engineer or <br />Fire Captain to a forty (40) hour week schedule for full week unit for the purpose of such employee(s) <br />attendance at training courses, conferences and/or meetings. During such temporary assignment, <br />employees shall continue to receive their regular rate of pay as specified. <br /> <br />A. Suppression/FLSA 7(k) Exempt Employees: <br /> <br />Any authorized time worked in excess of the employee's regular workweek (or FLSA work period <br />maximum) shall be considered overtime. <br /> <br />B. Fire Inspector, Hazardous Materials Coordinator, and Hazardous Materials Inspector assigned to a <br /> 2, 080 hours per year schedule: <br /> <br />Any authorized time worked in excess of the employee's regular workweek shall be considered <br />overtime. Overtime compensation shall be compensable at the rate of one and one-half (1.5) times the <br />employee 's regular straight time rate of pay. <br /> <br />Fire Inspector and Hazardous Materials Coordinator employees have the option to accrue compensatory <br />time off in lieu of overtime at the rate of one and one-half (1.5) hours for each hour worked. Upon the <br />approval of the Fire Department, compensatory time may be accrued but the total balance may not <br />exceed fifty (50) hours at any time. <br /> <br />Compensatory time off may be taken in lieu of overtime payment in accordance with the FLSA. Such <br />time off shall be mutually agreeable to the employee and the supervisor taking into account (a) the <br />normal schedule of work, (b) the anticipated peak hour workload based on past experience and (c) any <br />emergency requirements for staff and services. Compensatory time off shall not be taken when the <br />employee must be replaced by another employee who would be paid at the overtime rate. All accrued <br />compensatory time off in excess of fifty (50) hours must be liquidated by monetary payment. <br /> <br /> <br />
