Goals & Objectives Pleasanton Cultural Plan <br /> <br /> The Plan's overall approach is one of believing that the Ci.ty cannot "do it <br /> alone "; the participation of private funders, businesses and corporations, <br /> volunteers, non-profit arts and cultural organizations, other government grants. <br /> and others, will be directed toward the implementation of this Plan. under the <br /> overall auspices and guidance of the Pleasanton City Council. its professionally- <br /> staffed departments, and its appointed Civic Arts Commission. <br /> <br />Roles & Responsibilities <br /> · The council-appointed Pleasanton Civic Arts Commission should be charged <br /> with overall responsibility for: <br /> <br /> => Monitoring implementation of the Cultural Plan <br /> <br /> :=> Working with City staff and elected officials to prioritize arts and <br /> cultural uses and activities throughout the city's economic and <br /> community development, tourism, and other related activities <br /> <br /> =:, Working with City staff and private sectors panners for the development <br /> and/or renovation of cultural facilities <br /> <br /> =:, Developing and overseeing a City-sponsored cultural grants program <br /> :=:, Continuing to oversee the City's Public An Program <br /> · The non-profit Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council (PCAC) should be <br /> considered an on-going parmer in the City's efforts to implement the <br /> Cultural Plan with primary responsibility for: <br /> :=:, Facilitating the development of cultural facilities through advocacy, <br /> public awareness, acting as receiver for contributed income, assisting <br /> with grantwriting, and other related functions <br /> ~ Working closely with the PUSD school board, administration, and <br /> parents/supporters group for the enhancement of school-based arts <br /> education programs <br /> :~ Working closely with the City of P!easanton on enhancement and <br /> expansion of arts and cultural programs for youth <br /> =:, Continuing to be active in programming through presenting of visual <br /> and performing arts programs <br /> =:~ Facilitating artist residehey programs in the community <br /> <br /> ,4MS Planning &Research 23 <br /> May 1998 <br /> <br /> <br />
