CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 98-102 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION REAFFIRMING CERTAIN POLICIES FOR <br /> THE NOVEMBER 3, 1998 MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND <br /> REQUESTING CONSOLIDATION WITH THE STATEWIDE <br /> GENERAL ELECTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 10400 of the Elections Code allows a City to request consolidation of its <br /> local municipal election with a statewide general election; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 13307 of the Elections Code authorizes the City Council to establish <br /> certain charges for handling candidate election materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council, at its meeting of July 21, 1998, considered the options available <br /> under the above-mentioned section pertaining to the length of the candidate's <br /> statements and setting rules and regulations for additional materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, prior to the November 3, 1998 election, the City Council is to establish a procedure <br /> to resolve tie votes should a tie vote occur; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Authorizes the City Clerk to request consolidation of the Pleasanton municipal <br /> election with the statewide general election on November 3, 1998. <br /> <br />Section 2: Candidates will be charged a pro rata amount for the cost of printing and mailing <br /> their Statement of Qualifications. <br /> <br />Section 3: The candidate's Statement of Qualifications shall not exceed 200 words. <br /> <br />Section 4: No materials other than the voter's pamphlet and sample ballot shall be transmitted <br /> by the City Clerk to the voters; if a candidate wishes to send additional materials to <br /> the voters, it will be at the candidate's expense and by persons other than the City. <br /> <br /> <br />
