CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 98-97 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN <br /> AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE <br /> FOR MATCHING FUNDS UNDER THE FEDERAL COPS <br /> MORE 1998 GRANT PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at its meeting of July 7, 1998, the City Council reviewed the staff report from the <br /> Chief of Police (SR 98:170) regarding the Department of Justice COPS MORE <br /> Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Justice provides funding for programs, other than the hiring of <br /> swom officers, (a) if the programs free more officers for redeployment to <br /> community oriented policing than would the same funds if used for hiring officers <br /> and (b) if the local govemment is willing to provide 25% of the funding; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Police Department has submitted a request for COPS MORE funding for a <br /> mobile data computer system which meets the requirements of the grant program; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Authorizes the City Manager and Chief of Police to sign an Agreement with the <br /> Department of Justice for funding under the Federal COPS MORE 1998 Grant <br /> Program. <br /> <br />Section 2: Authorizes allocation of $65,656 as the City's 25% share of funds for purchase of <br /> mobile date computer systems. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
