CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 98-96 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE ELECTION RETURNS <br /> AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE JUNE 2, 1998 <br /> SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has ordered consolidation of its special municipal election with <br /> the statewide primary election pursuant to Elections Code Section 10403.5, and <br /> such election was held on June 2, 1998; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the conduct of such a consolidated election is governed by Elections Code Section <br /> 10400 et seq., and voting precincts were established for the consolidated election <br /> in accordance with the Elections Code; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the canvass has been duly made for Measure G and the returns are as follows: <br /> <br /> a. Total ballots cast were 15,067, representing approximately 43.3% of the <br /> eligible voters in the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> b. Measure G: Shall Pleasanton adopt an ordinance that (1) requires firearm <br /> sales to be regulated through a permitting process and (2) prohibits in <br /> Pleasanton the sale of certain specified handguns deemed to be inadequately <br /> designed and/or poorly manufactured, commonly known as "Saturday Night <br /> Specials?" <br /> <br /> Yes 9,472 <br /> No 4,942 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the special municipal election consisted of one ballot measure as stated above; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Ordinance No. 1719 shall have an effective date of June 2, 1998. <br /> <br /> <br />
