CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 98-15 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING PLACEMENT OF THE <br /> SCULPTURE ALBUS IN CENTENNIAL PARK <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City requested proposals for art work to be placed on the Centennial Park <br /> adjacent to the Senior Center; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City received over 200 proposals; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the field of 200 possible art pieces was narrowed to five f'malists; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a lengthy public process was held to review the five potential art pieces; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, public hearings were held before the Human Services Commission, the Parks and <br /> Recreation Commission, and the Civic Arts Commission; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a public hearing was held before the City Council on March 3, 1998, at which time <br /> Council reviewed the report of the Director of Parks and Community Services <br /> (SR 98:47) and received public testimony; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council approves placement of the sculpture Albus, by Dana Pumpelly <br /> Bates, in Centennial Park adjacent to the Senior Center. <br /> <br />Section 2: Approves an additional allocation of $5,000 from the General Fund to cover this <br /> project. <br /> <br />Section 3: Authorizes the City Manager to enter into an agreement, in a form approved by the <br /> City Attorney, concerning the terms and conditions of the placement of this <br /> sculpture on City property. <br /> <br />Section 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
